My wife and I have been discussing the idea of living in Europe. A post appeared on X.com with a reply that I thought was worth preserving here for future reference.
@TheBeautyOfSass
Creative work should be done the first thing when you wake up fully refreshed and with a clear head Admin tasks (and everything else that requires minimal cognitive power) should be done later in the day when you are already feeling your energy dropping… Give this a try
@BCalusinski
This is the main productivity benefit to working part of the year in Europe, specifically in the finance industry US markets don’t open till 2:30/3:30pm, so you have the entire morning to ideate, exercise, socialize, etc, which is a much better start to the day + momentum benefit Then, work yourself to the ground till 10 and fall right asleep after
My thoughts
I have to agree with Ben Calunsinski here.
Since our first trip to Europe, I’ve noticed a difference in my schedule.
We are currently in Australia where I need to be up by 12 AM to prepare for the market, and if necessary, stay awake until 8 AM. This kind of schedule is a challenge for someone who prefers to wake up at 5 AM and get things done right away.
