- A terrific museum that’s worth the short drive from Ocala
- Neat tidbit: The author’s husband took all the furniture and put it away in storage after the author died because the property was donated to the university to be used as a writer’s retreat. The husband did not want the furniture destroyed or lost. When the university handed the property over to the state, the husband took the furnishing out of storage and with the help of the maid, put everything back the way it was. It was this little thought that made the experience worthwhile.

Thanks to Vicky’s friend at Discover Crystal River, I enjoyed my first ever experience with manatees. Manatees migrate to warmer waters which means in Florida, you will find them at the springs in the winter months.
